Co-organized by the Italian Contemporary Film Festival and the Italian National Tourist Board, the event aimed to deepen historical ties between Italy and Canada while reaffirming Milan-Cortina 2026’s commitment to leaving a lasting legacy. Andrea Varnier, CEO of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation, highlighted the significance of legacies from the 2006 Turin Olympics and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and Paralympics in his speech.
“We share so much: a love for nature and the outdoors, rich local identities, and a dedication to sustainability and innovation,” Varnier noted. For Milan-Cortina 2026, he added, the goal is to stage “an authentic, inclusive, and sustainable event” whose legacy will go beyond infrastructure—to include shared memories, stronger community bonds, and new global collaborations.
As the Games draw closer, such events underscore Italy’s efforts to build international anticipation. By linking past Olympic legacies and cross-border values, the promotion not only celebrates the upcoming event but also lays groundwork for long-term connections between Italy, Canada, and the global sports community.
